A museum beneath the square.

The route descends towards the river while leaving the existing memorials in place.

In Concepción's Plaza Bicentenario, the project occupies the axis linking the city to the river. Almost the entire programme is placed underground to preserve the presence of the existing memorials. A long ramp descends from the square, maintaining a visual relationship with the memorial, to a foyer lit by a sunken courtyard and reflecting pool. Exhibition rooms and an auditorium unfold around this sequence. Only the principal exhibition volume rises above ground: from within it returns the visitor's gaze to the memorial, while its outward fold forms an amphitheatre facing the park. The proposal won first prize in the 2018 competition and has not been built.
